I have been very busy since I started work. However, my wife is very bored and misses home big time. I hope she adjusts and gets used to it soon. A big issue has been the lack of proper transport. Hope that gets sorted asap.

Homesickness is normal to feel specially when she doesn't have any friends to talk or hang out with while you are at work. I think as soon as she makes friends she will find her way easily in Bahrain.

About transport, you may have to rent a car at the earliest; life without car in middle east is quite tough.

When I brought my wife here after getting married. She was the same too. She left her home, family, friends, and her beloved work.
The lack of an adequate public transportation hindered her from venturing on her own to familiarize the country. She decided to do something about than staying home all day and started to reach out to make friends. Now she's sometimes busier than me!

I'm sure your wife will do the same. Once she knows places to go and makes friends she will adjust fine without too much of your help.

I would certainly recommend your wife to start socialising, attending clubs and visiting shopping malls. Certainly do consider The British Club (http://www.britishclubbahrain.com/) - it is a nice place to chill and start getting to know people. Also your wife can become a member of this website and start asking whatever questions she may have about Bahrain.

Bahrain can become a boring place if you don't interact with it. However there is a lively life out there, especially if you are staying in Juffair.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. My wife is now a bit more busy, she was very keen to get my daughter enrolled at the ISC (Choueifat). She is now going to the same school and this has cheered my wife up.

We did make a couple of visits to Lulu in Hidd and hope to make some friends.

She will soon be enrolling for driving lessons (when she gets her CPR), this should keep her busy and hopefully get her out and about once she passes.
