I'm a single, 24 year old female, planning on moving from Melbourne, Australia, to either Auckland or Wellington. I cant decide which one yet, as i've not visited either city before. Two things I LOVE are live music and food. I understand Wellington is great for foodie types, but i've not heard much about Auckland. The main reason i have Auckland on my list is for work. I think i'd be able to find a not bad paying job there. So - for all those expats living in either place - which city do you recommend????

Wellington is a pretty unique city but Auckland wants to be Sydney. Hope that helps!

You can get good live music and food in both cities. Depending on genres. It may come down to other factors. Below are some pros and cons of each place:
Wellington Pros
Has a good city centre with a heart, you can walk to places
Good bars
easy access to south island
Cons
weather is terrible
outside of the city centre there is not a lot to do
smaller job market
Auckland pros
better job prospects, unless governmental
great beaches around 1hr away.
more temperate climate and less rain
cons
city lacks a heart and is fragmented by motorways
need a car
