Pre-retirement pensionado visas

Plain and simply I need to do my homework. I'm 55.  I'm on long term disability (state sponsored).  I may or may not be transferred to Social Security.  I definitely lose my state benefits if I expatriate.  My question in general is are "pre-retirement" pensionados welcome in Columbia?  ($1695/month)

I believe they are in Panama; not sure about Colombia.

I am in the process of  getting my pensionada visa.  What I had to do was to get an "authentication" letter from social secutiy showing my monthly income.  I believe you have to show a regular monthly income from a pension, retirement or in my case social security.  I just now received this letter and I am told that I have to bring it to the Colombian Embassy along with photos and US passport.
