Our letting agent is asking for a tawtheeq fee of 787AED to renew our lease of a property on Reem island.
They charged the same amount when we moved in and we were new to the country, I understood this to be a connection charge. . I since learnt Tawtheeq is just a registration system.
Am I being ripped off and can I refuse to pay this fee as I also understand it's the landlords responsibility.
