About the Broadway
This show is about two friends from different worlds (America & Africa) who form a bond that leads to spiritual expectations that collide with mortal desires. Matron Lucinda “Mrs. Lucy” Shepherd finds herself in a dilemma when she gets on a plane thinking she is going home to Louisiana and finds herself in Tanzania, East Africa. Her baby sister set her up knowing that this first-time flyer, Mrs. Lucy, would be none the wiser.
Her good friend, Neema Asari-Dokubo, has made big, life-changing plans for Mrs. Lucy. However, she has no idea that Mrs. Lucy had not intended to go to Africa. What’s more is that Neema’s family has no idea that this matriarch has been keeping a colossal secret from them for years…a secret that will change everyone’s life, including Mrs. Lucy.
Dr. Omary Babangida, Neema’s son, along with his wife and 3 children have issues of their own - one child has plans to return to the U.S. with Mrs. Lucy, one child despises Mrs. Lucy, and the other child really does not care one way or the other. But this is nothing compared to the massive secret Mama Omary (Neema) is concealing. Are her actions the noblest of all sacrifices or are they the most ultimate betrayal of all times?
