Driving license Abu Dhabi

In 2019, Abu Dhabi traffic applied a new system to get a driving license in Abu Dhabi. If you already have a foreign driving license from any of the below 40 countries, you can easily convert your foreign driving license to a UAE driving license. The list of countries is as follows:

All what you need is to do an eye test at one of the approved optician shops like Yateem Optician, Majestic Optics or Aljaber Optical. After eye test you need to visit an approved legal translation office like Index Legal Translation or Business Gate Translation to get a driving license translation. Translation office will do the translation to the traffic department system and upload your documents to the traffic system as now they do not accept hard copies. After translation you will receive this sms from traffic department “Dear Customer… we have received your foreign driving license application No: 1252***********. We will inform you the verification status of your foreign driving license soon. Drivers licensing Dept.”

The next working day or within 4 working days you will receive an approval sms from traffic department that your foreign driving license translation has been approved “Dear Customer- Please be informed that your foreign driving license has been approved, now proceed to complete the process by our e-services channels- Driving Licensing Authority.

You need then to upload Abu Dhabi police application, complete registration and choose replace a foreign driving license from the options and pay AED 600 against license issuance. You will then receive this sms “Transaction for the driving license number 3****/ Abu Dhabi has been done. Receipt No. 199*** with an amount of AED 600, please collect your driving license at any nearest service center”
