Notarial Contract for LPP

Hi,

I am a South African National and my partner is a British National. We are currently living in Canada and I'm trying to apply for a visa for my partner.

I'm a bit perplexed about the Notarial Cohabitation Contract requirement for the visa. The requirements say the Notarial Contract needs to be signed in the presence of a South African Notary, but how does one do this while living abroad?

Can we have it signed by a Canadian Notary? If so, are there any extra steps I need to take and do we need any witnesses besides the one Notary?

Thanks for helping!

Your notarial agreement doesn't have to be by a notary in South Africa. You can get one done by a Canadian lawyer but make sure the DHA-1712 Form 12 form is signed and certified at the SA embassy/consulate in Canada. You don't "need" witnesses but if you can then rather get them to write affidavits confirming that your relationship is legit
