Your best business development ideas in Czech Republic

Hi everyone,

As a foreign entrepreneur, launching a business in Czech Republic is a fantastic project and an exciting challenge. Some ideas are likely to succeed. Some others are promising but may not work as well as intended.

In your opinion, what kind of business or industry is likely to succeed in Czech Republic? What kind of industry or service currently unavailable or underdeveloped in the country would meet local needs?

On the other hand, what are the most common business types foreign entrepreneurs would be eager to launch in the country but with very little chance of success?

Thank you for your insights.
Priscilla

I am not an entrepreneur but I've always felt that if I lost my line of employment, I would likely become one and my business would be opening a chain of American breakfast stands.  Traditional American breakfast is easy and cheap to make, and while most Czechs I know eat something very different for breakfast, all my friends have raved about the things I'm used to like omelettes, eggs and bacon, American french toast, pancakes, breakfast sausage, etc.  The first few years I lived here, Tesco didn't even carry maple syrup and now they do.  All these meals can be made in a food cart type setup to avoid expensive restaurant rent and fees and keep costs low, and I think being setup near tourist centers, it would be a big hit.

If someone actually runs with this idea, tell me and I'll be your first and most regular customer.  American breakfast is the thing I miss the most about living here, and while there are a few places that advertise it on their menus, I haven't found one that has really gotten it right yet (though there is a small cafe in Teplice that makes a really nice American style pancake)
