residency in Dubai vs Abu Dhabi

Hi

My employer offered me the option to do the residency in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi knowing that my work will be based in Abu Dhabi. Does it make a difference? other than the paper hassle to go to Dubai for doing the papers the first time (residency, driving license, etc)

Rental expenses in Abu Dhabi is almost double than in Dubai, but it will be a tedious job if you are traveling all days since you may need to spend at least one hour and 45 minutes for your conveyance.

from a paperwork perspective does it make a difference? if the residency were in Dubai or Abu Dhabi? independent of the rents and fees

That will make difference if you are trying to sponsor your spouse and children. If your company is in Abu Dhabi, you may require a tenancy contract in Abu Dhabi itself.
