Hi

Moving to Spain next year would it be beat to change bank to one in Spain ?

Depends on whether you have an income in the UK and will want to pay bills in the UK. Bear in mind that Santander UK has NOTHING to do with Santander in the UK. Good luck.
If you do decide to use a spanish bank do a bit of research. La Caixa - which is good in most respects charge you a fortune to pay bills by credit transfer inside spain (something you will need to do if buying a house or building.) Taking money out of an ATM is not free unless you use an ATM belonging to your own bank so make sure the bank you choose has branches everywhere. otherwise you are paying3 or 4 Euros everytime you need cash. Hi

It will pay to open an account in Spain. My pension is still paid in to a UK account and I transfer a lump sum when needed. Depends on your lifestyle and how often you would want to use a debit card but I find it cheaper this way, as you only pay one transfer fee to cover a lot of transactions in Spain rather than a transfer fee for each transaction.
