Doing business in Singapore

Hi,

are foreign investors welcome in Singapore?

Is it complicated to register a company in Singapore? What is the procedure?

What is the corporate tax rate in Singapore?

Is it easy to recruit?

Any advice you would share with us?

Thank you very much for your participation,

Julien

i do not know much about the requirements about foreign investors in SG so maybe you could actually find out more at dpbureau.sg for registering business in SG

Hi Julien,

You can visit www.acra.gov.sg  for registering your business. Well recruiment depends on which iindustry you are starting. But in general, with the influx of foreigners, recruitment sholdnt be  difficult here.

Before you can register a business here, you need to obtain an entrepreneur pass from ministry of manpower..only then you can registered a business.... mom.gov.sg

you will need to engage an agency to help you

Alternatively, you can have a singaporean here to registered the company first and then invite you to be investor and hold shares

Getting entrepreneur pass might not be easy since 2008. There are many requirements you need to meet in order for MOM to grant you a pass.

The new conditions and requirements are as follows:

- The Company must not be registered for more than six months at the point of application

- Own 30%-100% of shareholding in the company

- Have relevant experience and track record in creating and managing a business successfully

- Provide S$50,000 or more in paid-up capital for the new company
Submit a 10-page business plan detailing business goals and objectives. Renewal of EntrePass is contingent on achieving goals and objectives outlined in the business plan.

Aside from above option, you can engage agency to register company with local director and you as a director, then apply EP. I think this will be much easier. In both way you will need to spend estimate 3k for first timer. This will get you at least 2 years EP.

Putting in simple way is you have to get Agency to help you else it will be running ball. Singapore is a very systematic ... there is always a way but you must know the rules.

Other more simple and save cost is apply job and get EP. After two years you can apply PR. Then you can set up company. it's good also at least for you to learn about Singapore and time to adapt with the culture and familiar with the regulation.

What I can say registering company is pretty easy. But getting pass is not easy especially recent years Singapore limit down number of EP approved. So if you have money you can engage agency to arrange, else coming in and work under local company for first 2 years will be the best option.

Foreign investors are very welcome in Singapore and no paperwork or pass is required for owning a Singapore business.
(The abovementioned passes are only required if the investor also wants to live in Singapore and work for the company.)

Quite easy, quick and cheap. Every company needs a locally resident director. There are services who provide such a director (for a fee) and also do all the paperwork needed.

Hiring is also very easy, as long as you hire locals (hiring foreigners is more difficult).

Hi Julien

If you have questions, I can put you in contact with my husband (It is his job to set up companies) He can certainly help you.
Good luck

Pascale

Hello Pascale.

Maybe you can register your husband in the business directory of Singapore?

Thank you,
Aurélie
