Five years on from the Great East Japan Earthquake which killed 15,893 people, the nightmare remains for those who live on. The disaster in Fukushima and surrounding areas resulted in more than 200,000 victims having to leave their homes, and many are still living in temporary accommodation. Medecins du Monde was on the ground supporting local communities immediately after the earthquake, and is one of the few aid agencies remaining there today – providing mental health support under the slogan “Do not forget” and “Keep up”, but we still need to do more and we can only do so with your help.
March 11th 2016 will mark the five year anniversary of the tragedy and Medecins du Monde is hosting a special Fundraising evening in Toranomon, at the Andaz Tokyo Hotel. There will be a classical music concert followed by cocktails and canapes, plus, a chance to meet some of Medecins du Monde’s amazing volunteers who have been working in the field helping those in greatest need.
Will you join us to remember those who lost their lives and show solidarity for the survivors?
We look forward to hearing from you. If you wish to pass this on to any friends then please do.
