The Royal Palace announced on Thursday, October 13, the death of His Majesty King Bhumibol Abulyadej.
During his 70-year reign, King Rama IX led his country on the path of modernity to turn it into a great nation.
He has been the Monarch with the longest reign period, just before the Queen Elizabeth of England.
Loved and revered by his people, His Majesty left his people in a state of profound grief.
His Royal Highness Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn has expressed his wish of participating in the national mourning period which will last for a whole year. He will not assume his new functions for the time being. General Prayut, the Prime Minister is currently assuming the regency.
During the first 30 days, many festivities will be eliminated. The nation, as well as foreign residents and tourists, are encouraged to pay respect by avoiding festive behaviors and wearing suitable clothing. Wearing black is thus recommended, light or bright colors are to be avoided in any case.
Our heartfelt thoughts go to the Royal family and to the whole Thai nation.
