Retire in Thailand

I'm Canadian and planning to retire in Pattaya. I spent one month this last January and absolutely fell in love with Pattaya. I'm planning to retire there next year and was wondering what bureaucracy you had to go through, but you were just a visitor and that different for me I went to the Canadian Government so seek some advice today. I should go to the Consul of Thailand for there information. Thank you for your help. If you would like to e-mail me sometime, it's [email protected]

Thank You
Gary

Gary only red tape is making sure you have your ducks in line for visa.

Best option is obtaining Non-Immigrant O-A visa (for purpose of retirement) from Thai consulate in Canada before departure. Its a one year visa which allows you a whole year to learn what is needed for retirement extension you apply for during the last 30 days of your visa.

The extension is a very easy process provided you are 50 years or older and have either 65k baht monthly income or 800k baht in a Thai bank.  You can also use a combination of the two provided it totals 800k baht.

Hello Gary.

A new thread has been created from your message on the Thailand forum. :)

Thank you,
Aurélie
