Elemental Chi Kung: Earth

Are you looking for a way to step off the treadmill and find a place of self-connection, rest and peace for an hour or so?
Chi Kung will teach you to listen and be aware of how you are, to be more present with your body dynamics and the flow of energy within the body and mind.
These classes aim to give you concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist philosophy, self-reflection, stability, stillness of mind and body and aim to bring you home to yourself, so that you are better able to be who you already are in your local community.
5 courses, each lasting 6 weeks each, over the academic year.
Each course can be taken on its own or build up your knowledge throughout the year. Basics are taught throughout the year, including moving from your centre (Dan Tien), empty standing (Wu Chi) and coming into awareness of the Chi in both your physical and energetic bodies. Each Element is focussed upon during its season.
Course Leader: Shirley Hiscock.
Shirley trained as a Chi Kung Teacher and Post-graduate training at the Elemental College of Chi Kung, London, 2008 - 2012. She regularly teaches people exercises in the course of a craniosacral therapy treatment at her clinic in Basel, to aid her clients to trust their bodies and make choices from a more emotionally intelligent place.

Course 1: Earth – late summer/Indian summer
This course will explore the action and importance of Earth, introducing the Five Element model and guidelines for Earth. We learn movements and postures, such as The Monkey, that support the Earth Element, the Stomach and the Spleen in an effortless way.

* 31/8, 28/9 and 5/10 will be held outdoors. Meet at ISB Reinach car park. Wear suitable clothing and flat shoes.
