The Meeting Place, Puerto Plata's International Center is hosting a Q & A session on Friday January 13th at 4 pm, with the newly elected t Senator for the Puerto Plata region, Senator Jose Ignacio Paliza, who will be meeting for the first time residents and visitors from the English-speaking community. He was the youngest member ever elected to the Congress in 2010, and was elected Senator in a hotly contested election last May, in a campaign aimed at reducing corruption and promoting local development. He was one of the two opposition PRM party candidates elected to the 32-member Senate. . Many observers of the political scene here say that, as the senator is quite young -- only 38 years old, Mr. Paliza's " political future will take him as high as he decides to go".
After a short presentation in English, Sen. Paliza will answer your questions, and then join us in a reception to which you are invited. There is no charge for the event, but it is the perfect opportunity to (again) become members. The Meeting Place is staffed by volunteers, but we depend on membership fees to meet our expenses. Do come a bit early and introduce your self to other visitors and ex-pats.
