@cc17 I can tell you the route we are planning. We are travelling with pets so not trying to go too fast. We are leaving Mid April so I can give you loads more info after that, but our route is this:
Yuma, AZ --> Las Cruces, NM --> Eagle Pass, TX/Piedras Negras crossing --> Saltillo --> San Luis Potosi --> Puebla --> Villahermosa --> Chetumel

That's exactly the route we always take.
Lots of pet friendly places and the scenery in some places is spectacular.
We cross at Del Rio/Ciudad Acuña, but the road from thee joins the # 57 at Allende.
