D7 or D2 visa?

Hello guys,

I am an employee with a permanent contract in my home country and i am allowed to work remotely from anywhere around the world and my wife has a sole establishment under her name and we have some plans to open a branch in portugal but frankly our main objective is to get a portugal citizenship and we are willing to move with any option that will help us reach out goal.
Having said that, we'd like to understand if we are eligible to any of the following Visas, D2 or D7.

Hi Dany,

I think the most suitable for you both would be the D7 visa (passive income).

D2 visa:

Hi Johnny,

I see that the D7 requires one deposit minimum 7200 euro into a portuguese bank account. Is this correct if you are an independent professional?

Hi EarthTariq,

The D7 visa is a visa for those who have a passive income, i.e. a stable and periodic income that you must have available to live in Portugal ( pensions, rentals, dividends, etc).

When you apply for this D7 visa, you can be a dependent/independent worker in Portugal, but a minimum income available for your stay in Portugal is always required (for the duration of your visa) and which does not depend on your work.

Best Regards

Thanks 🙏

I wanted to ask if for the d7 residency visa, does one have to transfer the minimum amount to a portuguese bank account?  or can it be accessible on their foreign bank account?

D7 visa requires a Portuguese bank account.
