Jack, Sounds almost cruel but have you tried major bus companies? They used to carry gobs of baggage for me eons ago. I know the trip by Itapemirim can be long but......

Same here, Matt!  When I tell my husband about 24-hour bus trips from Salvador to São Paulo, or hallucinations on the all-night bus from Belo Horizonte to Rio, he looks at me like I'm talking about visits to different planets.  I wonder how much of that intercity bus network is even still intact?  And whether Itepemirim still has ônibus-leitos?
