Hello everybody. My name is Mike and I live on Ipitanga Beach in Lauro de Freitas, near Salvador in Bahia. Been here since 2004 with my Beazillian wife Ligia and originally I'm from Manchester in England . Up to now, I've enjoyed my life here in spite of numerous ups and downs and although I have been fortunate to have been in work here since 2004? I now find myself unemployed for the time being. If there is any of you out there that may know of any possible work opportunities, preferably close to Salvador or even home office type work, I would love to hear from you. I'm 62 years young and still lead a very active life here in spite of the Covid19 pandemic. I'm a Quality Engineer/Manager by profession but I am very flexible and would be willing to undertake virtually anything that would be worthwhile. I would be particularly interested in hearing from any multi or international companies out there. I am fluent in both English and Portuguese with vast international working experience. I'm delighted to introduce myself to you and hopefully I could get to know many  more Expat members here in Brazil. Thank you for your time and acceptance. Michael J. Loftus.

Hi Mike,

Good luck with the search mate! It was my biggest concern before moving to Brazil, what would I do if I couldn't keep my currently job, and it still is actually.

I think with the pandemic, a lot of companies are hiring full remote now, so I would hope it's achievable for you to find one of these opportunities. I know some young Brazilians that I used to hire here that now work for international companies at salaries close to $3400 a month! Granted, I am in the programming/finance sector and this experience relates to the programming side more.

yea if you have informatic technology background - super easy to get remote work. I work where tax treaties are in place so i can enjoy a solid exchange rate!

Ok. Great to hear that you are doing well in spite of the pandemic. I have a more engineering background so perhaps it's a bit difficult at present. Whereabouts in Brazil are you based?

Ok. English penguin? Great to hear from you and pleased to heat that you are doing well over here. Whereabouts in Brazil are you based?

I have been living in Foz do Iguacu for almost 3 years now, luckily working for the same company as I was back in London.

That's great. Best of both worlds eh? I would have liked to have done that
