My mother wants to come to the US from DR just to buy products from the dollar store. She says everything in Santo Domingo is a lot of money. Any one know if there are stores sort of like the dollar store or with dollar store products in Santo Domingo?

Plaza Lama is a store. It's a large department store full of lower cost items right up to major appliances.
China town is a good safe option. Some other areas are not considered safe.

Calle - spanish for street. Duarte - the actual street name. You will find this street name in all cities here. He is one of our founders.
Calle. duarte is not a place to go alone or if you don't know the language.
