Hello All,

I am from Cape Town, South Africa. I spend many years in the SA Navy as a diver. I left the Navy and started working Offshore, globally. I arrived here a few days ago. Still waiting for accommodation, but am staying in a hotel. Waiting for the green light in my health passport. Doing my COVID test on Thursday.

I left my family in Cape Town. So, I am here alone. I have no idea where to go, so require assistance on all matters.

Hello
I'm looking at taking a role and moving, my wife has bipolar and is on antidepressants - I'm trying to understand if she can get an employment visa while on medication as I've read mixed responses.
I'm aware she can bring her prescription and obtain medication but can she also work.

Thanks

Hi Im rozen , currently workjng here in Saudi Arabia

Hi Welcome to your new country. Ive been living here around 20 years from California and am also a female although not single. The country is very safe for most part. I suggest you find a place close to your work, and whats your budget. Here unlike other places, you must pay the whole year upfront and sometimes you can negotiate to pay in 2 or 3 installments. Landlords are more cooperative now as we have a housing overload.
I suggest stay in hotel apartment and drive around the neighborhood near your work. Most places only post telephone numbers on front of building and that I find is best way to find a place. See the neighborhood, the building or compound and amenities etc. Markets are everywhere and shopping but  it can get alot of traffic in late afternoons so best to be close to work. Once here too, you can ask your employer what are good neighborhoods to look around. Major compounds are very expensive and some have so much security (American Compound) that its a nightmare for your friends to get in and out for visits etc. I suggest neighborhood small compounds or apt buildings or if your budget more a small villa. Good luck.

Hi Im Dr. Tedie Hudson. I am a female dentist and 3rd generation Californian. An unlikely candidate to be in Saudi but I love adventure, travel and meeting new cultures..so here I am. Ive been in Saudi now 20 years as a dentist and teacher in advance dentistry. Country has changed 360 from 20 years ago. More westernized which Im pleased to say. I drive, I work, I shop, I travel freely. Citizens are friendly, country is safe and Im glad I stayed. I raised my kids here who are now all bilingual. I loved living here as its easy to travel to most of the world within a few hours. California is unfortunately FAR from everywhere so I have explored Asia, Europe, Africa and of course the Middle East. It has been an adventure and I dont regret a minute of my choice to work here , make a difference in the country and my life.

Welcome here.
So you are a dentist. A good job in KSA by the way.
And yes, KSA has lowest crime rate in the world, safest country in the world on that part.

Hi.
Speaking of dentistry, I have a query for you regarding a missing tooth that needs to be replaced. Any info about going into would be welcomed, I have done some research and my significant other tells me it's painful as hell...thanks and God Bless.

replacing a missing tooth is only painful to your pocket book ...haha....all procedures are done with local anesthetic and good anesthesia ...no pain. That said you have 2 options. A bridge or an implant. Bridge is the fastest method but requires a tooth on either side that is healthy to support the bridge. Both those teeth will receive a crown and support the missing tooth. Long term success can be 30+ years if you take care of your teeth and have regular annual cleanings . The second option is an implant. This a post that is drilled and placed into the bone (not painful although it sounds like it would be)..then after a period of healing ..average 2-3 months and crown is placed on the implant. The longevity for this on average and at best is around 12 years however could be more or less depending on the density of your bone and again  good dental cleanings and daily care. If you are young , you need know that when an implant fails it take more bone with it and make take from the neighbor teeth too. So for long term, i recommend bridge first choice if possible and implants should be the last resort as its the end of line.  Removable appliances are also possible and more affordable but make it a good one with internal metal frame or it will stress and weaken the teeth next door.
Hope this info helps .

Hello everyone !
My name is Mashael and I'm originally from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia but I have relocated to the United States about 15 years ago. Unfortunately, I have not been back for almost 4 years and I don't recall anything about Jeddah anymore ! I will be visiting for a week on May 29th with my husband who is American and doesn't speak Arabic. Any recommendations on places to visit or things to do will be appreciated. Thank you !!

Sincerely,
Mashael

Hi,

I'm from Algeria ,would you help me in order to find a job position in UAE ,  I have Master degree in English and Translation studies

Looking to hear from you soon

Thank you so much. Better start saving my coins..

Hi,
I'm Marie from London (and France), currently between Riyadh and Hail.
I've been in KSA for 1.5 months.
At the moment I'm having a hard time adjusting to everything here, especially as my job depends on so many people with a different work ethic. It turns out my job was not what I thought after all either. I work in childcare. I'm desperate to get my residency here, so I can visit shops easily.
Normally I like to travel, have dinner with friends, play bowling, badmington, volleyball...
I am looking to find a swimming instructor as I need one too. (so much to do and so little time!)
I am missing the socialising part of my lifestyle. I guess, I need to be more involved.
2 positive points:  - I went to the flix (in Riyadh) to watch Tom and Jerry and it was well worth it (a good laugh).                    - I went to Bounce (they have lots of trampolines). It is very physical but great fun and absolutely bootcamp style for adults. I am hoping to organise an outings for expats one Saturday if you are interested. :-)
Thanks for reading me and feel free to contact me. :-)

Sad Story...but I'm afraid typical Saudi.
