Hello! My name is Sophie and I'm half English, half French, currently living in Larmor-Plage (56). I was wondering if there's any demand for an English speaking dog trainer & walker in the Morbihan? Unlike many of the French trainers, I use only positive methods that will not harm your furry friends 😊 I'm in the preliminary stages of setting up a business, just want to test the waters first. Let me know if you're interested!

Hi, I’d welcome that. I have a new puppy and finding it hard to socialise him in Brittany as can’t easily find other dogs on walks and things. Covid also means people are avoiding each other!

Any classes or options to introduce him to other dogs would be good.

Kr,

Angela

Hey Angela,

Thanks for your reply! As you can see, you're the only person so far who's expressed interest, so I put my plans for a full on business on hold. I would be happy to help on an individual basis though! Whereabouts are you?

Angelaross

Thanks! I’m near Morlaix. Happy to hear about any opportunities to train or socialise puppy. He’s 14 weeks old. We go out around forest/beach but don’t meet a lot of people/dogs.

Ooh, Morlaix is about a 2 hour drive from me so I'm not sure I can be much help in person sadly :( I would thoroughly recommend Zak George and Kikopup on YouTube for specific training videos (like teaching your puppy basic obedience, toilet training, muzzle training, and then moving onto trick training if that's something you're interested in - they have videos on literally everything!)
In terms of socialisation, it's a shame that you're not meeting anyone organically - down here everyone's out and about despite covid so all the dogs are loving it! Have a search on Facebook for local dog groups, type in something like 'balades canin morlaix', most towns/areas have a group set up where members can arrange little puppy playdates and walks. It's so so so important that your puppy is properly socialised to avoid behavioural issues later in life. Puppies learn how to communicate by interacting with other dogs and if they miss out on this they can really struggle to understand, and be understood, in the canine world - which can be extremely problematic. Really hope you find some dogs soon!

Hello,

Are you still doing dog walking?  I’m an American living in La Roche Bernard and I have a little dog that’s having a hard time being on his own.  I’m looking for someone to watch him occasionally or maybe take him on walks without me, so he can get used to spending time away from me.  I’d really appreciate your help!

Thanks,
