New opportunity!

Hello everyone!
I hope you're all doing well during this crazy time? Has Austria been affected badly due to the pandemic?
I'm here because I have had an opportunity to go for a job in Austria. It's a really good job and matches my skills and what could be more exciting than moving to a new place!
And that's where you will hopefully come in! Before applying it would be great to get any insight of what its like to live in Salzburg? I visited once many years ago and remember that I really loved the city, but times can change and things can seem very different as a tourist!

So, here are some  general questions just floating in my mind that will hopefully guide any answers I may get :)
What's the quality of life? Are there a lot of expats? Is it easy to make friends and socialise?  Is there a young, creative scene in the city? What's the nightlife and restaurant scene like? How are the outdoor activities? Is it easy to just pick up and go for a hike? What's it like to drive in the area and is it cheap to own a car? How is the accommodation? I live in London- am I sure to find a place that's much cheaper and has more space?!

Ok so that's a lot of questions! The list could go on but I'll stop there and hope that someone has any insight :)

Thanks so much for any help you may have

Thanks

Sarah

Welcome to the Forum :)

Well, I have some bad news, we are about to go into a full lockdown on Tuesday until December. There are quite a few Brits living in the area as well as other Expats.

Salzburg is quite expensive compared to other areas in Austria. But as a whole, the whole of Austria has a good quality of life.

Due to Brexit, it would be advisable to move over before 31st December.
