That was 8 months ago the position is different now.. still not good . our position is getting worse rather than better but thankfully not so many people are dying
The increasing number of positive tests must logically be caused by the untested vaccinated people infecting the unvaccinated people, who are the only ones being tested on a large scale. This may mean that the vaccinated people are incubating the virus, allowing it to mutate, and this will probably lead to more virulent strains.
Therefore only testing unvaccinated people is completely pointless.
Of course, the only thing that matters is hospitalizations and deaths, so broad scale testing has no value anyway.
I world suggest we only test those with symptoms, and then use one of the highly effective protocols that reduce hospitalizations and deaths to less than 15%
Most infections are being found in rapid testing.... vaccinated people don’t need to rapid test,
Whilst accepting that anyone can catch covid even vaccinated people the risk of passing it on is greatly reduced
Why don't they need to test? You have to if you want to understand the situation, overall.
Most interesting article in The Lancet, this month .....We have shown that the inhaled glucocorticoid budesonide, given for a short duration, might be an effective treatment of early COVID-19 in adults. This effect, with a relative reduction of 91% of clinical deterioration is equivalent to the efficacy seen after the use of COVID-19 vaccines14 and greater than that reported in any treatments used in hospitalised patients and patients with severe COVID-..
most embarrassing for governments and others
Bad wording on my part .... most vaccinated will not be required to test although to be honest I don’t know what employers think or require of their staff as there is bound to be a mix of both vaccinated and unvaccinated...
I suspect that when free rapid testing ends 1st august there will be further issues
I’m not sure how things stand toon buy all uk holiday companies are putting holidays up for sale big company’s too just don’t understand what’s going on I booked last year and jet 2 are saying they will be in touch a week before we fly that’s end of august ? This is Cyprus I’m. On about
yes i know - if would suggest you keep watching the Cyprus Mail each day for the updates as the trend here is upward on infections...
More restriction are to be announced today
I cannot understand it either,, and its no consolation I know
Looks like stricter venue controls with enforced safe passes to enter venues as a starter but it will be made clearer next week
Mask wearing when outside is still a requirement until you are seated and still required to be worn in the venue when walking around a venue talking to others going to the toilet and nobody is allowed to go to the bar even to pay. Fines of €300 for the customer and €1000 for the venue owner if these things are ignored and you / they are caught,,, same goes for safe pass being asked for and shown at the door
Much as expected new decree covid requirements
Clarification on the latest 'Safepass' measures in Cyprus
Clarification on the latest 'Safepass' measures in Cyprus
Following the speech given by President Anastasiades on 16th July and the latest meeting of the council of ministers, the following measures have been announced to restrict the spread of covid19 and to increase the vaccination coverage of the population.
From Tuesday 20th July the presentation of a safe pass will be required in all indoor and outdoor areas* where more than 20 people can congregate, this includes the employees of the business. (* beaches, parks, dams, nature paths and excursion areas are exempt)
The Safepass is mandatory in all buildings including retail businesses, hospitality and recreation centres. Everyone aged 12 and over must present a Safepass.
"The minister failed to clarify whether Safe Pass rules would apply in supermarkets, bakeries, and mini markets, with people from the industry saying clarification was expected possibly by Saturday"
All businesses must display the maximum number of people allowed taking into account the distancing protocols, and must clearly display whether a Safepass is needed.
It was also said that the EU Digital Covid Certifcate can be shown as a Safepass but ID must also be shown. If citizens refuse to show a Safepass and also refuse to leave the business the staff must call the police to take the appropriate action.
The hospitality sector including catering establishments, night clubs, reception venues, discos can serve only seated customers, a maximum of 10 per table. Dancing is not allowed irrespective of the kind of music. Dancing is permitted ONLY in premises that host only vaccinated guests or those who have recovered from Covid in the past six months. The owner/manager must secure permission from healthservices@mphs.moh.gov.cy.
The maximum number of people permitted in hospitality businesses is 250 indoors with a SafePass or 450 if they have been vaccinated or have recovered from Covid in the past six months.
The outdoor rules are 350 with a SafePass and 500 if vaccinated or have recovered from coronavirus.
Businesses which choose to only host vaccinated or those who have recovered must have a sign clearly informing the public of this policy. They must also inform the health ministry on healthservices@mphs.moh.gov.cy.
The SafePass is also compulsory for public transports (buses, taxis etc) for employees and passengers. Further details will be announced by the transport ministry.
The ministry said that organised summer camps, irrespective of the age of participants must suspend operation, the latest by July 23.
But camping sites remain in operation, based on protocols.
Tuition centres, social activities and summer schools also require a SafePass for everyone over 12.
Entrance to care homes will be permitted only to those who have a SafePass, and it is the responsibility of the owners/managers to check.
