Is abortion legal in mauritius with consent

Hi,I would like to know whether the gynecologists perform abortion with the consent or willingness of concerned person.
Because my wife wants to remove her pregnency at her will,due to financial problems as we can afford kid.
Please help

Hello Sreegoutham,

Abortion is not legal in Mauritius (except in some proven cases such as foetal impairment, rape, mental health issues). In your particular situation it would be illegal in Mauritius.

Hi,

The line between what is considered legal or illegal regarding abortion in Mauritius is very blurry.
Theoretically, abortion is only allowed under specific circumstances but are routinely performed on a larger scale in private practices or clinics.
