What does "expat" means to you?

A lot of us here refer to oneself as an expat or soon-to-be expat. The dictionary may have their definition of this word but some of us may define it a little different. Who really "owns" the meaning meaning of the word 'expat'?
What is your own definition of the word expat?
Hint: It does not mean retired.
Thanks,
Soon-to-be expat

An expatriate is simply someone living outside of their native country, whether for work, retirement, etc.

.
It was Pat who went into a diet.
He is now Tin.😂

Someone who lives in a foreign country long term with no immediate plan to return home.

Expat to me...would be someone seeking to *earn more money by working somewhere else / or someone seeking to *save more money..i.e stretch their savings or pension by settling somewhere cheaper!
So simple : It was always about $$$$
....To earn more or to save more!
So that is the question : To be or Not to be an Expat!

EXPAT

noun
Expat Xenophobia Pretending As Tourist

Actually I haven't heard of the word Expat until I was in HK, never heard it in the states the 26 or so years I resided there.

Man it was hard to think of a word that starts with " X " that made sense with the others.
