Looking for Canadians who have moved to France

Our daughter has moved to Bretagne and is expecting our first grandchild. Would like to explore the possibility of relocating there in the near future. I hold dual citizenship, French by birth and Canadian by choice.  I'm on a fixed income and am worried about the fluctuating euro currency, not really sure about the tax laws etc... anybody who has done this and is Canadian, your help would be invaluable in this process. Thanks, merci beaucoup.

The tax laws are very different in France from those in Canada.

Canada looks like this:

Canada[36] 11-16.5% (federal)
2–16% (provincial)
0–29% (federal)
0–24% (provincial)
4.95% (CPP)
1.78% Employment Insurance (EI)

0%-5% Health Care Tax& Premiums(provincial)
&5% (Federal GST)
0–10%(PST)

France in comparison looks like this:

France[2] 33.33% 0–40% (income tax) 45% (social charges employers)
21% (social charges employees)
VAT 19.6% or 5.5% or 2.1%

You will also pay local property taxes in France that can be quite elevated if you own real estate
