2020 Coronavirus COVID-19 Isolation In Vũng Tàu

As I'm sure everyone in town knows by now, the latest large-scale restrictions of activity here in Vũng Tàu were put into place yesterday, Saturday 28 March 2020 just after midnight.

How is everyone doing?

I've finally decided to follow the guidance of the Government of Vietnam by limiting my trips outside my apartment to shopping for groceries and at pharmacies, as well as banking business.

I'll be shaving my own face and head since my barber has been forced to close.

My physical therapist won't be allowed into my apartment for our daily morning appointments.

Also my girlfriend will be staying away at my request.

Most upsetting to me: my housekeeper/cook will also be staying away at my request.

I'll be cooking for myself most of the time, but luckily most of the restaurants that have been forced to close 2 in-house dining are still making takeaway food available.

However I'm aware there's a certain risk associated with that as well.

I hope all expats and locals in Vũng Tàu get through these next weeks with greatly limited virus outbreaks.

Cheers!

P.S. If you can't resist going OFF TOPIC in this thread, can you at least limit comments to matters related to Vũng Tàu?

Most if not all restaurants are offering take-away and delivery as usual. I ordered a pizza from Luca this evening (delivery was fast)  and had take-away pasta from David yesterday. Belly's, Taj Grill and Good Morning Vietnam are on the list for the coming week. OMG is another option. Many ads on facebook for others...

In addition, a number of local places are still open for dine-in. I had bún cá ngừ and gỏi cuốn at Cô Ba yesterday and bún thái at a place called Thom Thit(?) for lunch today.

Also, I'm fairly well stocked up, just in case, on fruit, bread, canned stuff, rice, coffee, honey, pasta, muesli, instant noodles and other staple food items as well as drinking water plus toothpaste, floss, soap, etc., and even bought some candles.

I've heard 'two weeks' and 'April 15' has been mentioned in terms of a potential ending point. Best thing to do is take it one day at a time, of course. Make the most of each day and be sure to relax and don't think too much. And, be grateful we've got it as good as we have here.

That's it.

I cooked 99.9% of my meals and shaved/cut my hair myself preCOVID-19 anyway... so, no difference there.

I've many books and thousands of hours worth of TV shows & movies downloaded and ready to watch; and, and BBC iPlayer is streaming well. So long as the electricity stay on and my computer works, I'm happy.

I'm saving money and am much healthier/feel better because I'm not sitting in: Belly's, AdamTroy's, Corner Coffee, Chi Chi's, Mekong Bar, Ned Kelly's, Lilly's Baradise (Tommy's) drinkin' piss & chain smoking.  ;)

Is that an attempt at free advertising???

;):D

Nope... but I forgot Betty Boop.

Also, lots of time to  :sleep and my apartment has never been so clean!  :top:

Every time I walk by Betty Boop, it's totally dead and nobody there. Do customers start showing up late at night?

The few times I've been there in the afternoon, it was 'dead'. I've been once at night - it was very busy because there was a 'killer pool' tournament on.

VT is one of the limited number of cities in VN with zero case of virus so far.

Since the first day of social isolation in Saigon, the Saigonese who have homes in VT have temporarily moved here to "trốn dịch" (hiding from the epidemics).

Patient Nº 32, daughter of a Vietnamese-American, one of the richest men in VN (who chartered a private plane to bring her back from London when she came down with the symptoms but wasn't allowed to be admitted to hospital there.  Afterwards, he contributed $264 millions to buy medical equipments to fight COVID-19 and 5000m2 property for quarantine facility) is fulfilling her mandatory self-isolation for post hospitalisation in her villa 400 meters from me on the same street in VT instead of any of her family homes.

I just received this image from a Vietnamese friend here in Vũng Tàu:

As you may be aware from other threads, some national restrictions have been eased.

Even so, each individual province has had their authority affirmed, should they desire to maintain stricter controls.

Hopefully Ciambella will clarify this, but it appears nothing will be changing about the quarantine here in Vũng Tàu.

Make me happy and convince me I'm mistaken.

I can't. Even though many on Facebook are stating cafes, restaurants and pubs in Vung Tau will be open tomorrow (April 16), the People's Committee for BR-VT seems to be stating otherwise.

Ciambella is having a back pain thus hasn't been on the computer.  :sick

During this pandemic, local authorities have the last word, therefore in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, all restrictions stay the same.

Any places that open today will be closed soon.
