Situation in Mauritius as at 15/04/20

Hello everyone,

It is official: there are currently three cases of COVID-19 in Mauritius. At least two other Mauritians from South Africa are also showing symptoms and are in quarantine at Flacq hospital awaiting the results of medical tests.

What are the measures currently in force in Mauritius?

Already several companies have opted for working from home. The Port-Louis and Quatre Bornes markets are also closed for the next few weeks.

Since Thursday, March 19, 10:00 am, the Mauritian borders are closed and commercial flights can no longer land on the territory for at least the next 15 days.

Not before a few months I would say. Mauritius has no active cases and has had no new infections for 17 days now. The authorities won't risk bringing new cases especially from Europe. Not before August at least.

There have been talks about Air France resuming flights to Mauritius on the 15th of June but no guarantees that Mauritian authorities will allow incoming flights so soon.

It's a wait and see situation right now.

In September it will open be patient
