Adopting a pet in Cambodia

Hello,

Are you a dog or a cat person? A pet can add life to a home and make an ideal travel companion during your expatriation in Cambodia.

However, formalities or regulations might put you off traveling with your pet making adoption a better option.

Are there any particular rules or procedures for the adoption of an animal in Cambodia?

What are the costs associated with adopting a pet in Cambodia?

Are there different procedures depending on the animal?

Are pet-sitting options available?

Have you ever adopted a pet in Cambodia? Is he or she still with you today?

Thank you in advance for your feedback,

Loïc

Hello,
Hello Loïc, here my two cents.

I grew up with cats, then had dogs for 35 years and now I'm back into cats again

As far as I know there are no rules for adoption of pets. The only thing you have to check out is if the landlord allows pets in the apartment, some do, some don't.

What are the costs associated with adopting a pet in Cambodia?
Most adoptions are free of charge. I have 2 blind cats through a veterinary clinic that treated them, vaccinated them, de-sexed them, wormed them and checked them on FIV/FelV, pet passport included.

Are there different procedures depending on the animal?

Are pet-sitting options available?
The clinic has a boarding facility

Have you ever adopted a pet in Cambodia? Is he or she still with you today?
Yes, I adopted 2 blind street cats through veterinary clinic Animal-Mama in PP. They are still with me

Thank you in advance for your feedback,

Loïc

Have a nice day.
