Teaching controversial topics in China

I am coming to Shanghai soon to take up a humanities teaching role (very exciting!). One of the first topics I will be teaching is 'The rise of the dictators' (Hitler, Stalin, Mossolini- not specifically related to China!), which has got me thinking about whether there might be any restrictions on how I teach about the ideas of communism, democracy and dictatorships... or any other controversial issues (another example of concern is the one child policy for population studies!). I can't find anything specific in my research, but I'd rather avoid getting into any trouble in my first term!

I always try to be objective in these areas anyway, but I just wonder whether it will be difficult to be critical of China's policies in the classroom to allow for balanced discussion?

I hope that makes sense! Thanks in advance!
