Punta Arena

One should start getting used to the name Punta Arena, near Bani,  because it is now kicking off with the first set of beach condominiums with Frank Rainieri (the guy that was behind Punta Cana) involved.

It's proximity to Santo Domingo, especially once the Bani ring road gets built, will make it an extremely attractive vacation destination, especially for weekend retreats or a second home investment for many in Santo Domingo, being (then) less than an hour away. It is a lovely tranquil part of the island too with access to many varied attractions nearby and not just beach and anything but flat in the nearby hinterland.

Here is the English website for anyone interested.

It could actually tick some of those boxes for potential retirees better than elsewhere, because of the proximity to Santo Domingo and best medical care closer.

And in that area you close by, you also have the unique vineyard ownership development, Ocoa Bay which is producing it's own wines which can be found in select hotels in DR and on the premises:

Can anyone confirm that the Bani Ring Road has actually started as was indicated in a news bulletin from MOPC in July as below:

Looks like an interesting project!  No idea if the road has started!

The Santo Domingo last phase will be finished this year, so SDQ airport will be the arriving door, the one for Baní i think they started.

I was passing the end of the current ring road at Villa Mella yesterday and they are about to tarmac the connection to the extension and the road between Villa Mella and Yamasa with the delivery of tarmac pavers and rollers yesterday. The new ring road beyond is already paved so I'm expecting the rest of the ring road to be open by Christmas as advised.

Google Earth gives one a clear indication of it's pending opening. It joins the Samana highway between the Andres junction and the second peaje.
