New Expat, Questions About Medicare Open Enrollment

Hi,

I have been living in Philippines since June, while still maintaining a residence in Virginia, and last week got a letter from my Medicare Advantage provider threatening to disenroll me if I lived outside of the US for more than six months.  Whose business is it where I live?

Looks like I will be living here for at least the next couple of years, so I am not sure what to do with Medicare.  I have been self insuring while I have been here, no major health issues.

Any suggestions?

Many USA citizens who move overseas maintain Medicare parts A and B for future possible use, do not attempt to keep any supplemental to Medicare insurance.  Since the Medicare is only good in the USA or USA territories it is more backup than frontline coverage.  Right now you could use your Medicare in Guam, a bit of a commute.

I had some lab work recently and it was about what my copay would have been in the US. Think I will just get Part A and B.
