Rent a house for a new comer

Hi, my name is Linda. I'll be moving to Oshawa with family next year to study. I have heard that it's hard to rent a house if you're a new comer. Any advise on how I can make this work? Thanks heaps!

Hello Linda,

As long as you can prove that you are able to pay your rent there shouldn't be a problem. There is so many expats in Canada, newcomers move there every day, so landlords are used to it.

Although it is pretty hard to find a house before coming in Canada and there is so many scams, I wouldn't recommend it. You could rent a bnb for your first week and look for a house.

Don't hesitate to visit our housing page for adds: https://www.expat.com/en/housing/north-america/canada/

Hope this helps :)

Hi Helene,

Got it. Thanks so much for your advice! Will have a look at the page.

Cheers,
Linda

Hi Linda,
You could book via www.rentfaster.ca. You can search by bedrooms, style, price and there's usually lots of listings. You can sign up to their email notifications. We rented our first house from France via this website. It is a very good one!
Good luck!
