Hi all, I'm Lee from good old South Africa. I am looking to start a farming venture in Tanzania and just need info on where an how to start and firstly to find out if it would even be possible. Would appreciate any input that could lead me in the right direction. Many thanks, Lee

Yes, you can find a farming venture in Tanzania. Farming and agriculture play a great profit. SunFlower is one of the crops with much demand, Tanzania imports cooking oil by 50% due to the shortage. Small farmers produce but still can not fulfill the market demand.

Other crops are sugar cane for sugar production, other crops are maize, Wheat, sesame,  and also livestock like Pigs.

You can invest in real estate 100% foreigner and Government provides very good investment environment. It will be simpler if you do join venture with a local person (Tanzanian) and will be a great success too. ******

Hi there,
Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated. We are basically looking for a farm of 500 to 2000ha with irrigation and would be more than willing to involve someone local. As soon as the link is available I will have a look. If you have any further info or links that I can research and get in contact with the right people, I would appreciate that. I am prepared to fly to Tanzania to meet people that can guide me. Have a super day.

@MLFARMING

Greetings.

there is a lot of farming land in Tanzania, no doubt about this. How ever Tanzania is large (just below 1 million square kilometers) , there are lowlands, highlands, marshes etc. Many large waterways, rivers and many big lakes lakes.

In Tanzania almost anything grows due to its mild weather and enough rainfall. Half of Tanzania has two rain seasons, the other half has one major rain season.

Some of plants grown here:

-Cloves

  1. cashewnuts
  2. coconuts
  3. cinnamon
  4. cardamon
  5. garlics
  6. ginger
  7. turmeric
  8. coffee
  9. oranges
  10. avocado
  11. apples
  12. pulses
  13. wheat
  14. maize
  15. tea
  16. vanilla
  17. all types of vegetables

just for your notice, Tanzania is the leader in export of agriculture products around this area. You need to get a closer look and survey to determine your direction.

best wishes
