Change of Employer, applying for EP2 without previous cancelled EP

Hi,

I'm currently holding an EP3 visa and changing employers who has applied for EP2 using ESD. They have not asked me to cancel my current EP3 first and have already submitted Stage 1 of the application. I did provide release letter from my current employer stating the current EP cancellation date (to be amended date) however it is not actually cancelled online or physically yet. Is this normal? At which point I will have to actually cancel (amended EP cancellation date) EP on my passport?

Could you please guide me if the release letter is enough to process Stage 1 or can cause issues unless the Passport copy with cancelled EP (shorted date) is provided?
