Balchik

Hello,

On our first visit to BG we stayed in Varna and traveled to Balchik. It was December and a few shops and a restaurant was open. Does  Balchik have the infrastucture to support year round living?

Does it have the infrastructure to support year round living? Yes. Plenty of people live there year round. As in other cities, streets are cleaned, there is water, electricity, basic shopping.

Will the winter living be pleasant? Probably not. It is a summer city. As you saw, it closes way down in the winter. Even the people who live there tend to keep to themselves during winter, so there's not much opportunity to meet people or socialize. (Although if you already know people from summer, then you may have winter socialization).

Thanks for the perspective.

We find Balchik to be a vibrant place and even in the winter there are places to eat and drink.......they also have good supermarkets which are open all year round......There are lots of people who live here all year round...........we dont live in Balchik but we arnt too far away and find it a nice place to visit.
