I didn't understand this thread when I first read it.  Two days later, I still don't.

What exactly was/were the OP's question/s? 

- He wanted to find a freshwater lake near Da Nang?
- He wanted to BBQ on the shore of a freshwater lake near Da Nang?

- He wanted to buy a scooter?  No, it couldn't be it as it wasn't a question.  He was just thinking aloud, probably.

Which brought me to my own question:

Why would a person whose mother tongue is English, who was "born in uk, work in stock markets in usa, currently in LONDON UK" write such a sentence?

In Da Nang your best bet might be a lake in the shape of a hotel swimming pool.
Haven't seen any public BBQs in Vietnam.
Just charcoal hibachi pots on the street, burning sườn nướng. 🔥

Don't buy a scooter right away, might be difficult to register too. Rent for a month at least, there are many kinds of motorbikes. Probably 1.200.000 vnd. I saw newer Hondas for tourists on back streets near the beach. Much nicer than the clunkers for rent in Saigon.

No they aren't used as such, but lack of moving water, etc, they aren't what you would call,pristine. Hahaha. Don't think of dipping your feet in them. I'm sure there would be an exception
