Cuenca-Area Immigration Office Moves to ... Cuenca!

In 2015, most visa and immigration functions for Cuenca Expats and residents were moved to the regional data processing center in Azogues, in a neighboring province, Cañar.

This has been an inconvenience for Cuenca Expats, who have had to take a bus or find other transportation to the Azogues office.  The immigration office in Cuenca was closed by Ecuador's foreign ministry to save money and consolidate functions in the regional center.

Now the immigration office will be relocated back to Cuenca, according to Yaku Pérez, the prefect of Azuay province where Cuenca is.

The changeover date has not been announced yet, according to the national officials in Quito who agreed with Pérez that the move back to Cuenca was advisable.
