Music day in Belize

Hello everyone,

Music day will be celebrated this 21st of June across the world. It is an opportunity for new expatriates and expats-to-be to discover and get excited about new ways of celebrating this special day in Belize. Would you be able to answer a few questions to make sure no one misses out on the best events?

Is Music day popular in Belize?

Tell us about how it is usually celebrated? What activities are usually organised?

Are there traditional activities on Music day (street concerts, festivals etc.)?

Is there a not-to-be-missed event or a place-to-be on Music day?

What do you have planned for this 21st of June?

Please share your experience,

Priscilla

I never heard of music day. However June 21st is the first day of LobsterFest (21-23) in Placencia Belize.
I will be eating Lobster of course.  :D

A part of the lobsterFest celebration is Music, lots of VERY LOUD music until the wee hours of the morning.

However most folks favorite musical event is the Pantempters Steel Orchestra. That's right Orchestra, not band. There are  20-24 musicians all playing 1-3 all steel drums and a few other items (car brake drums for example) that make beautiful sounds in the hands of these talented folks.   No electronics at all except for a few iPads some musicians use vs sheet music.

They play at events all other Belize and a few other countries, so if you have a chance to hear them don't miss it. https://www.facebook.com/Pantempters/
