Long term house rentals in the suburbs of Reykjavik?

Hello,

My wife and I will be potentially moving to Iceland next year (Spring 2020). We are interested in looking for rental properties that are a little further out from downtown - small, single family homes. Are there any websites that would help us with our search? It seems that most websites that are targeted for long term rentals are more for apartments within the city center. Would we have more success reaching out to a rental agency or realtor?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Ben

what do you mean by "further"? The Reykjavík area is very spread out so people who work downtown often live in what might be considered suburban areas, where multi/single family homes are common. Mossfellsbær, Garðabær, Hafnarfjörður are some examples of places to search. This website might help you find some places- it's a bit like original Craigslist so be on your guard because there are occasional scam "rentals" there.
