Phu Quoc SCAMS & Island Safety
I was a victim of Phu Quoc. When going through the Viet equivalent of the TSA, I was asked if I was wearing a money belt. The agent told me to remove it and put it through the scanner. It took a very long time for my money belt to pass the x-ray. I later found that x-ray cost me a $100 bill after doing an accounting in Saigon. I was the only one in line when I passed Viet TSA.
I recommend you put your cash in your pocket and/or don't let it out of your sight while passing TSA. Do that or do an accounting before and after your money belt leaves your possession. Paper currency in your pocket shouldn't set off the machine.
