Solutions needed to save Dương Đông River and keep Phú Quốc clean

Garbage, wastewater and scum oil discharged from fishing vessels have turned the river water black and smelly.

The river is dead. No fish or shrimp can live in such water”, Phù Thọ Bình, who has been living on the island for 45 years told the newspaper.

Many commented that the pollution must be solved as soon as possible as it affected the lives of local people and tourism.

Polluted beaches would scare tourists away, they said

This is really sad. I fell in love with this island and was hoping to retire there one day. Now it looks like I may need to seek out an alternative somewhere else.

Unfortunately the money given overides the pollution issues.

Thanks to warn us to never visit Phu Quoc, everybody should watch these videos, the tourism agencies never speak about this scary truth and after tourist wasted their money and never go back to Vietnam.

Ong Lang beach, one of the last "open/unprivatised" beaches, is carpeted with trash and the sea is chock-a-block with trash following the return of the monsoon.

On the french forum, we named Phu Quoc, in Fuel Quoc  :D
