Hands cuffed, Lieus expressed his discontent as he was being taken into the building.....
....Lieus was reported to the Bareskrim by Eman Soleman on suspicions of spreading hoaxes and attempting treason on May 7, 2019. The report was then handed over to the Metro Jaya Regional Police.

Bawaslu: We cannot Accept Reports on Alleged Electoral Fraud

https://en.tempo.co/read/1207269/bawasl … ma_Click_1

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) has determined to reject two reports on the alleged electoral fraud in 2019 general elections.

The report was submitted by a former TNI Commander Djoko Santoso and National Mandate Party (PAN) politician Ahmad Hanafi Rais and Dian Islamiati Fatwa who accused the incumbent candidate Joko Widodo or Jokowi - Ma'ruf Amin pair practiced foul play.

“We declare that reports on the alleged structured, systematic, and massive administrative violation cannot be accepted,” said the head of judges Abhan during a trial in the board headquarter, Monday, May 20.
The evidence in the form of news links provided by Djoko, Ahmad, and Dian Fatwa on their report was not adequate to prove the allegation.

“The news link as evidence cannot stand by itself,” said Bawaslu member Rahmat Bagja, adding that it should be supported by other pieces of evidence such as documents, letters, or video displaying the fraud executed by state apparatus or election organizers who directly connected to the accused party.

Additionally, the evidence presented by the opposition, the Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign team, could not be proved right as the reports did not meet the requirement of evidence for the case.

“Analyzing evidence brought by plaintiffs, from p1 until p9, there is no single evidence that proves a well-planned electoral fraud committed by the suspected party,” Rahmat said. Thus, the reports could not further be progressed since there was no adequate evidence.

Democrat Refrains from May 22 Election Protest

https://en.tempo.co/read/1207284/democr … ma_Click_6

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democrat Party secretary-general Hinca Panjaitan asserted its party members would not join the upcoming protest on May 22 that many deemed as a “people power” movement against the presidential election results.

The Democrat assured that it would abide by the existing procedures regarding the 2019 presidential election results that will be announced by the General Election Commission (KPU).

“The Democrat Party will adhere to the constitutional route,” Hinca told Tempo on Monday.

He added the Democrat, however, was supportive of the report filed by the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga campaign team (BPN) to the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) on alleged structured, systematic and massive fraud besetting the elections.

“We will accept and respect whatever the verdict may be this noon,” said Hinca

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Incumbent President Joko Widodo won last month's Indonesian election with 55.5% of votes against 44.5% for his challenger, retired General Prabowo Subianto, the election commission's official count said early on Tuesday.

The official result released by the General Election Commission (KPU) confirms unofficial counts by private pollsters of the April 17 election, giving Widodo a comfortable victory, though it could trigger a legal challenge and potential street protests after Prabowo claimed widespread cheating.

Widodo won with over 85 million of the total 154 million votes cast in the world's third-largest democracy. There was no immediate reaction from him or his campaign team.

An election supervisory agency earlier on Monday dismissed claims of systematic cheating because of a lack of evidence and independent observers and analysts have said the poll was free and fair.

But a witness for Prabowo's campaign team and the leading opposition party refused to sign and validate the official results, which were announced more than a day earlier than expected after the KPU worked into the early hours of Tuesday to finish the vote count.

“We won't give up in the face of this injustice, cheating, lies, and these actions against democracy,” said Azis Subekti, a witness from Prabowo's campaign team.

Prabowo camp washes hands of planned May 22 protests

As government officials and civil society organizations continue to discourage the public from attending a rally in front of the General Elections Commission's (KPU) headquarters following the planned announcement of the 2019 election results on Wednesday, political parties in presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto's coalition have distanced themselves from the event. As of Monday, with over 90 percent of the vote tallies in, the KPU's official vote-count information system website puts the Joko “Jokowi” Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin ticket with 55.5 percent of the vote compared to Prabowo-Sandiaga Uno's 44.5 percent. Prabowo has claimed that his team found evidence of massive, structured and systematic cheating and said he would reject a “fraudulent” election result.

If some have them, it's very likely others will as well, but not have been nabbed by the cops - I recommend staying out of problem areas of Jakarta for a few days.

Jakarta. Police in East Java have found four Molotov cocktails hidden inside a minibus used by supporters of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto.

East Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Luki Hermawan was quoted in a report by CNN Indonesia as saying that the supporters were traveling to Jakarta when they were stopped and the vehicle searched.

Police in all provinces have been tightening security ahead of the expected announcement on Wednesday of the official results of last month's simultaneous presidential and legislative elections.

More Travel Warnings as Military Placed on Alert Ahead of Election Announcement

Jakarta. More countries, including Australia and Canada, have warned their citizens to "exercise a high degree of caution" in Indonesia ahead of Wednesday's announcement of the official results of last month's presidential and legislative elections.

The National Police have foiled an alleged plot by terrorists to attack the crowd expected to gather outside the offices of the General Elections Commission (KPU) in Central Jakarta to protest the results. Most of the protesters that are expected to participate in the planned protest are supporters of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, who has rejected the election results.

Despite saying the situation is under control, police still advised people to avoid mass gatherings on Wednesday.

Several embassies in Jakarta took the cue and issued warnings to their citizens in Indonesia.

"Avoid protests, demonstrations and rallies, as these can turn violent without warning. We haven't changed the level – exercise a high degree of caution in Indonesia overall, including Bali," the Australian Embassy said in a statement.

Prabowo - Sandiaga Team Denies KPU Elections Result

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The national campaign team of presidential pair number 02 Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno rejected the election result announced by the Election Commission (KPU), said the team witness Aziz Subekti.

“This rejection is a moral monument that we will not give up to fight against frauds, lies, despotism, injustice, and at the same time, we also combat any action that will harm the democracy,” said Aziz in the KPU trial court, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, May 21.

On an extremely serious note

Prabowo Reported as Suspect for Alleged Treason

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto was reported in the alleged treason case of Eggi Sudjana as noted in the investigation order letter (SPDP) issued by Jakarta Metro Police to the head of Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office.

The campaign team legal and advocacy director, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, affirmed to have received the copy. “We are waiting for this case development for then making a move,” said Dasco in a phone call with Tempo, Tuesday, Amy 21.

He explained that the letter was the copy of SPDP for suspect Eggi Sudjana. Meanwhile, Gerindra chief patron had never been summoned related to the case.

“The letter notes Prabowo as the reported. So let alone as the reported, he has not yet summoned as a witness,” said the Gerindra Party deputy head.

Jokowi has accepted a win

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Election Commission (KPU) has named Joko Widodo or Jokowi - Ma'ruf Amin pair the winner of the 2019 presidential election on early today, May 21. The campaign team expressed gratitude for the result.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise to God). This result is not much different to our quick count and real count recapitulation result,” said the campaign team (TKN) spokesman Ace Hasan Syadzily on a written statement Tuesday morning, May 21.

KPU announced its final result of vote recapitulation that the incumbent garnered over 85 million votes or 55.50 percent, while Prabowo - Sandiaga collected some 68 millions or 44.50 percent. Earlier this May, the TKN claimed to have led the presidential election with 80 million votes and predicted to win by 56 percent.

Arrested

https://www.thejakartapost.com/news/201 … arges.html

The Jakarta Police have arrested the campaign spokesman for presidential candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno, Lieus Sungkharisma, on suspicion of subversion and spreading hoaxes.

The police arrested Lieus at his apartment in West Jakarta on Monday morning.

They searched the activist's apartment and his house, which is also located in West Jakarta, police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said in a statement.

Lieus was reported to the National Police's criminal unit on May 7.

The National Police's criminal unit handed the case over to the Jakarta Police after Lieus failed to heed two summonses for questioning on May 14 and 17. He claimed that he had not received either summons but was nonetheless looking for a lawyer.

Arriving in handcuffs at the Jakarta Police headquarters on Monday, Lieus said he had been treated unfairly during the arrest.

“I was pulled out and lifted [by the police], it was not fair,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.

He said he would go through the legal process as part of his fight for “the sovereignty of the people”.

“I will not answer any of the investigators' questions. They can write down anything; I'm not afraid,” Lieus said. (ars)

Jakarta. Lieus Sungkharisma, a spokesman for Prabowo Subianto's campaign team, was arrested by the police on Monday to be interrogated on charges of treason and spreading fake news.

Lieus was arrested in an apartment in West Jakarta on Monday morning.

Police have already summoned him twice for questioning, but Lieus never responded.

In a video that went viral on Monday, Lieus was seen making light of the police summons.

"I think this government is wrong. They think we can be scared off with these treason allegations…. [But we] are not afraid, even if they're arresting us, because we're fighting for the sovereignty of the people," Lieus said in the video..

I read a lot of news sites, so it's easy to sort out.

What we have to wonder now is what's going to happen over the next few days.
We have terrorists arrested with bombs they intended to use in Jakarta, some taken by the police a little more dead than others, and reports of some members of the 02 camp heading to Jakarta with Molotov cocktails, not something you carry to break the fast with. Happily they were arrested, but some might very well mean there are more out there.
We also have treason charges, those seemingly backed up with videos of the people concerned calling for the elected government to be overthrown by mass violence. I won't be taking part in any of that stuff.
Rejecting the election result is up to them, but the only way to change the result now is using the courts, and the only reason not to do that is a weak case.
Violence will only lead to a mess, something Indonesia and Indonesians just don't need.

I will accept the result, not for personal political beliefs, but because I believe the elections were run in a free and fair manner with no cases of error or fraud even close to serious enough to change the result.

My vote, I'm not saying, but I voted for the candidate I thought best for Indonesia, not best for me.

Riau Governor to Sanction State Apparatus Who Join May 22 Rally

TEMPO.CO, Pekanbaru - Riau Governor Syamsuar asserted that he will impose a sanction to state apparatus or ASN who join the rally against the election result on May 22.

“If they take leave without a permit, of course, it's a violation to the regulation,” said Syamsuar on Tuesday, May 21.

Syamsuar appealed to the public to refrain themselves from attending the rally and devote selves to God and increasingly offer prayers during this holy month Ramadan in a bid to enhance faith and piety.

“Pray for our country to remain in a safe, peaceful situation and maintain the sense of unity of Indonesia,” he remarked.

The session was aimed to determine whether BPN will submit an election dispute to Constitutional Court or not. “Pak Prabowo usually holds an internal consolidation,” said Andre when reached on Tuesday, May 21.

National Mandate Party (PAN) secretary-general Eddy Soeparno and Berkarya Party sec-gen Priyo Budi Santoso confirmed the agenda....
...The BPN advocacy and legal directorate will also bring up issues about the Gerindra chair being named as the reported party in the alleged treason case implicating PAN politician Eggi Sudjana as noted in the investigation letter (SPDP) of Eggi issued by Jakarta Metro Police.

Barbed Wire Fences Installed to Anticipate May 22 Rally

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two layers of barbed wire fences are installed around the headquarter of the General Election Commission (KPU) on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, May 21. The barrier also blocks off vehicles access from Bundaran HI (HI Roundabout) to Jalan Imam Bonjol to secure a demonstration on May 22.

Dozens of police personnel stand guard behind the fences. Even more numbers of Indonesian Military (TNI) and Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers are on standby in Lawang Park located behind the commission's office.

Former Army General Reported for Treason After Planning Mass Action on May 22

Jakarta. Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Sunarko, the former commander of the Army's Special Forces, or Kopassus, was reported for treason and crime against public order to the National Police's criminal investigation unit on Monday. The man who filed the report was one Humisar Sahala.

Sunarko was reported after a video was found showing him planning a mass action on May 22, when the General Elections Commission (KPU) was scheduled to announce the official result of the 2019 presidential election.

The KPU ended up announcing the result earlier than expected, declaring a win for Joko "Jokowi" Widodo early on Tuesday morning.

The video circulated widely on social media and WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app.

In the video, Sunarko said, "When the election result is announced on May 22, and if Jokowi wins, we will set up a barricade outside the General Elections Commission [offices]. Block off access."

"Then, some people might also blockade the Presidential Palace [in Central Jakarta] and the House of Representatives building in Senayan [South Jakarta]. No one will go to Monas [the National Monument]. But it has to be a large number of people. If we have a large crowd, the police will be overwhelmed [and hold back]. I'm sure the military won't take tough measures [against us]. I'm sure of it," he said.

Humisar, who is a lawyer, said Sunarko's remarks were provocative and could potentially stir up conflict.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police gave the May 22 protesters until the end of Tarawih prayers to stage their rally in front of the General Election Commission (KPU) building and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). Failing to comply with this instruction will result in the protest being disbanded by the police.

"They can hold the protest until the end of the day's Tarawih prayers. That is the time that the authority will tolerate," The National Police's chief of Public Information Bureau Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo told reporters, Tuesday, 21 Mei.

Photos from social media show a reasonably large crowd out there today, some with Islamic banners that appear sort of ISIL in nature.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Law, and Security Affairs Wiranto declared that law enforcers will continue its hunt on disobedient public figures and made sure that authorities will not show preferential treatments.

“We'll continue to summon and arrest public figures indicated of violating the law,” said Coordinating Minister Wiranto at his headquarters on Tuesday, May 21.

In response to allegations likening Wiranto's leadership to those of Indonesia's defunct New Order Regime, he maintained that it was essentially needed to maintain the country's security and protect its people.

“We're doing this because we want our nation to be safe, to have a peaceful society that is not hampered by violating acts such as we see now,” said Wiranto.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Political, Law, and Security Affairs Wiranto confirmed that the former Army Special Forces' (Kopassus) Commander Soenarko has been named a suspect in relations to ownership of illegal firearms.

Wiranto maintained that Soenarko's arrest is essential to preserve the country's security.

"Authorities do not play around in preserving peace and such arrest is firmly needed," said Wiranto in a press conference at the ministry's headquarters on Tuesday, May 21.

However, he openly admitted that police investigators are currently investigating Soenarko's motives behind the illegal firearm ownership.

Wiranto distanced himself from assuming too far about this case and the gun's possible intended use at the May 22 rally regarding the result of the elections.

“It isn't linked to anything since we have just entered the initial investigation, but clearly ownership of illegal firearms is outright banned. As for what it would be used for, we'll look into it during the investigation which is ongoing,” he said.

Information spread about Soenarko being questioned by Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) personnel on May 20, 2019. He is currently being held at the Guntur Military Detention Center in South Jakarta.

May 22 Protesters Burn Brimob Dormitory Building in Tanah Abang

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The masses that had previously rioted and were involved in a clash with the joint forces of Brimob (Police Mobile Brigade) and TNI (National Armed Forces) armed with tear gas were still concentrating around the Brimob Dormitory, Petamburan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday morning, May 22, 2019, after they had set fire to the building

Based on an observation, a group of mobs tried to approach the Brimob Dormitory this morning. However, they were driven away by a number of security and joint forces guarding the location. The joint officer also closed all road access to the Brimob Dormitory on KS Tubun Road, Slipi III Street, KS Tubun III-B Road, Jalan KS Tubun III-C.

The masses that claimed to be a part of the `Aksi Gerakan Nasional Kedaulatan Rakyat` (National Movement for People's Sovereignty Movement) began to riot on Tuesday night, May 21, 2019. They returned to the front of the Bawaslu Building, Central Jakarta, which they had previously protested against the election results.

The returning mob took down the barbed wire barricade fence and provoked the actions of the authorities. After being pushed to Jalan Wahid Hasyim, the mob burned tires and other items in the middle of the road. The authorities managed to overcome it and opened the road again but the masses returned to make barricades in the Tanah Abang Market area.
