Creating New Business in PR

Hi, everyone! I'm in the beginning stages of researching business opportunities in PR--types, location, etc.

Obviously, I'd love to launch something that'd be lucrative, but I'd also like for it to be something that is useful and welcome to the citizens as well as tourists.

I found a 2018 list online and just wanted to get your opinions on the usefulness and need:

1. Restaurant
2. Bar
3. Grocery Store
4. Car rental
5. Taxi
6. Limousine service
7. Retail - beauty products
8. Retail - clothing
9. Laundromat (self service)
10. Courier Service
11. Water travel (jet skis, cruises to nearby islands, etc.)
12. Hotel
13. Movie theater
14. Hair salon
15. Nail salon
16. Shoe store

Which of these businesses does PR most need, and on what part of the island?

I don't know how lucrative beach/water activities are in PR but I think that's lacking. Not all beaches have rentals (jet ski, kayaks, banana boats, that jet pack thingy that allows you to hover over the water, parasailing, those hand held propellers that move you through the water). I have visited beaches in other countries that offer a plethora of water activities. Also beach chairs, loungers, umbrellas rentals. The sun in PR is Burning HOT.....there isn't enough shade. Not all beaches offer this service.

Where we live, we often see people flying above the beach in gas powered kites. They launch at the park and fly up and down the beach about a hundred feet off the ground.

Don’t know if they are rental units, but seem to be popular.

Insurance liability is very expensive for the water sports rentals. Most people can barely afford to open a business after the cost for permits, inspections, licences etc. To pay alot for this type of liability isnt usually worth the headaches
