I am getting this job offer in Malaysia and they have asked me obtain a single entry tourist visa before entering Malaysia.
Once in Malaysia, I will be required to do a Petronas medical.
Their agent will then collect my passport and process Kemaman work permit.
Is this the actual process?

Yes that the process, They will send you approval letter from MDEC to apply for visa in your country.
You will need to Visit VFS office with that approved letter and visa form completed with 2 copies of white background photo size and travel ticket single.
It will be single entry visa, when you arrive in malaysia immigration will stamp visit putrajaya immigration office within one month, to have your visa stamped on your passport, Its usually done by Company Admin in which company you are hired.
