Redundancy after several months?

Hi all,

I am wondering if it is possible for a company in the Netherlands to make an employee redundant after only several months of employment?

Just asking as my company is not in a great financial situation and I know people's heads will be on the chopping block.

If so what type of redundancy pay will the employees get? I am seeing conflicting information online.

One states that there is no official redundancy, i.e. employer and employee must come to a mutual agreement, or via court, or dismissal via serious misconduct.

On the other hand I see that if an employee has worked for less than 2 years, then the "transitional pay" is not applicable, i.e. employee receives nothing....

Which is true? Not sure if I should be worried.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

I'm going back a long time and perhaps things have changed, but it used to be that if you worked for a company for less than 2 years, you just got a months notice (pay), plus any holiday pay owed.

My advice is to speak to a lawyer.
