Feedback buying from amazon & ebay from Mauritius.

Hello,
Does any one have experience buying items from amazon (US) and ebay or any major US online shopping from Mauritius? The research i've done, i noticed that not all items ship to Mauritius and those who ship to Mauritius, shipping is very expensive. Thanks.

Hi,

The best solution and that i am currently using is to use a parrotparcels.com. It's a shopping concierge service that let you buy from online website around the world that does not ship to Mauritius and not accepting payment method.

I had a pretty amazing experience with them. The company is located in Mauritius and they are very helpful. I usually get my parcels (i  have bought only from US & UK) in 5-7 days. They handle everything and you get it delivered to your door. Good luck.

Hi, Thanks. Look like a cool service. I will check them. And about customs duty? Any website, really?

They handle everything and customs duty as well if there is any. Yes i recently bought an Iphone from apple.com through them. It was cheaper than anywhere in Mauritius.

Hello. There is a problem with their website; it's not displaying properly. Also no security certificate for the site (SSL/ TLS).

www.parrotpacels.com

Worked perfectly on my side. And display ssl certificate. Maybe an issue with your browser. I just test it on safari and chrome.

@vincent1990 : The link you provided is not correct. not www but the secured https and your're missing the 'r' in parcels.

I found another one when I was in Mauritius a few weeks ago
https://flycrates.com/amazon-shipping-to-mauritius

but decided to order the parcels back in Europe since I will be back shortly. Might give it a try.

I suppose lots of items don't ship to Mauritius because of payment restrictions or custom restrictions in Mauritius.

@Andy_dw: Ops sorry. Thanks for correcting it for me :)

I just check the flycrates's website. Seems very expensive. 229$ for 2.3kg? I remember paying last time around 30$ for around same weight with parrotparcels.

Amazon (where i buy mainly) does ship to Mauritius(books,DVD,CD) and some other items also but shipping is super high for expedited shipping and customs here is a nightmare for valuable goods. I've even got a pair of Nike stolen.

For me parrotparcels has been super great and a life changing service. I was even considering Mauritius back to US because of this as i am a heavy online shopper.

Depends on the location of the item you are buying. Mauritius is simply too far away from the US and this poses huge logistical constraints. This is particularly true with Amazon.

However, with other online retailers, most sellers do ship to Mauritius.

Thanks, that's the correct URL.

How was your experience with this website? Or buying directly from Amazon.com?

What website?

Amazon.

I have been checking Revenue authority website. VAT and some taxes can be claimed for return for foreigners (Tourists).

I want to know as a occupational permit holder, you are resident or non resident?

When you are important/shopping goods online via global websites, does VAT, customs duty and other taxes and duties apply to us?  Does the taxation criteria change as pr type of goods?

For example you are buying a goods on amazon and need to pay custom duty & tax. There is no way they will know that the package is for a tourist. But technically you can claim it while leaving the country at the airport.

Occupation Permit. The Occupation Permit (OP) is a combined work and residence permit which allows foreign nationals to work and reside in Mauritius under the following 3 specific categories(Investor, Professional & Self-Employed).
