Hi,
I'm a little curious about the period that is being used in calculating resident tax. Back in 2017, I arrived on March 27th and registered myself at the City Hall. I started working on the 1st April 2017 and I will leave Japan on the 30th April 2019. So my question is how is the resident tax being calculated. I know that the 1st year is tax free, but I wonder which period is being used here for the subsequent years. Let's say for 2019, is it calculated from Jan 1st 2019 to Dec 31th 2019 or from April 1st 2019 to March 30th 2020?
I would be very much appreciated for the help.
